Pelvic Exam??

Question

Women are raised to keep there legs closed.  I feel uncomfortable with men or women standing around looking at something delicate and personal. Studies show woman suffer psychological damage from such procedures but nobody is looking into it.  Doctor or not nobody should be looking at my vagina and judging it..  maybe I'm just being fussy and embarrassed by the idea of anyone but my lover looking.  What do you ladies think?

Doctors aren't judging hownyour laboa looks, that are making sure that you're healthy. Women shouldn't be raised to keep their legs closed- they should be raised in a way that they understand how their bodies work and are educated enough to decide what to do with their own bodies.

Wait what?? They're 100% necessary. To see if you may have an infection, to do a check up... it's important to see what's going on down there to make sure everything is good down stairs. I'm sorry that it makes you uncomfortable, but it's not a sexual thing and not meant to be invasive. If you don't want one, don't get one, but women get them for several reasons and they're all to make sure they're healthy. If you're sexually actively, even if you've only been with one person, you should get them every now and then just cuz you never know.

Nobody should have to go through such a thing.  Especially considering they don't educate women on the exam.  It's awkward, painful and just horrible how they treat some of the women!  It's like rape for lack of a better word.  They penetrate women and use making sure everything is healthy and well as an excuse.  Especially if your a virgin.  Do you want some doctor (mostly men in that department) sticking fingers and tube inside you?  Taking pictures?  I refused it all my life and I always will. How they treat us women is unjust and the procedure should be looked into!

No ones judging your vagina. The doctor is making sure your vagina is healthy and looks normal and you don't have a disease or infection , etc. As an adult you have to understand some things just have to be done for your health.

Honestly, pelvic exams give me panic attacks. It's a severe phobia for me. I have a hard time breathing and have to be medicated for it to be done. I like the comfort of knowing that everything is good and well and healthy, but I'm not right for several days. I can't look people in the eye and feel dirty. It's a horrible experience for me. It's traumatizing. I do it because it's supposed to be done. But no, I don't think you're being fussy. I probably am though... but it isn't anything that I can help, and it's always blown off by everyone. Thankfully my gynecologist is unbelievably patience and will work with me and even if it takes 30 minutes, he will sit there and talk with me until I'm okay enough.

this is the most ridiculous thing ever. doctors don't just sit around "i really wanna get all up in some random peoples vaginas with metal tools, that sounds like fun". they have pelvic exams for a reason. if you don't want to get one, don't. nobody is handcuffing you and forcing you to do it.

They're really important but I almost fainted during my first Pap smear because I was telling her it hurt and she wasn't taking the speculum out. That really made me panic that I was telling the nurse practitioner that I was in pain and she kept doing it. I'm definitely going to keep getting them yearly but I can't say I wasn't traumatized by my first one lol

Pelvic exams make me really uncomfortable, and they hurt. Especially when you're pregnant. But I believe it's nessasary, to help you.
