False Positives?

Is it possible to get a false positive? I've been holding off on taking the test becuz I didn't want to waste one by taking it to early but I finally took one and it came back clearly positive but someone advised me to take a pink one to make sure (I'm assuming one of the pink first response ones) so now I'm just wondering if the first test could have been a false positive....
