Convertible Cribs???

Question

Ok ladies, those of you who have invested in a more expensive, heavy, real wood, convertible crib, did you really use it through every stage or did you get rid of it after a year or so and go with a standard toddler bed or regular adult bed? How did it hold up over time? 
I thought I wanted a convertible crib that's truly built to last but a few people I have talked to said it didn't matter if they spent $200 or $1000 on it after a year or so they had to get a regular bed anyways..... I included a pic of the one we are considering. It goes from crib to toddler bed to day bed and full size. Its thick, heavy wood.... Think it would last?

We never had this stuff when I was younger, once I was big enough to pull myself up onto an adult bed my parents ditched the crib and bought me a queen sized bedroom set and taught me to take care of it.... It's is still being used today! That was 27 years ago! I want this crib to last that long!

My brother bought an expensive convertible crib & used all 4 stages, up to a full size bed. He now has another baby & is using it as a crib again. It's 8 years old.

I bought a cheaper version of a convertible crib, but it only went from crib to toddler bed. Well, we never used the toddler bed, so it was pointless to even have it. My daughter actually stayed in her crib until or third birthday. And then we went straight to a regular twin bed with a mesh side, and just pushed the bed up against a wall for the other side. So we did not need a headboard because of this, since the bed is completely pushed against the wall for safety, but I think when your child is ready to use a headboard and foot board, it's nice to have one. However, the likelihood of your child using a full-size bed well into adulthood, is pretty slim, But I could definitely see a teenager using a bed like that, maybe even into her 20s… I know I had a full-size bed until I was 21. Obviously that all depends on how well it is taken care of throughout childhood.

I bought them and never used the toddler conversion. Went straight to a twin bed with magic bumpers.

My mommy friends told me to stay away from them. My friends kid chewed all over  the sides when he was teething causing gauges. The other kid took a sharpie to the legs so basically this super expensive lifetime bed is ruined.

We ended up getting the Gonatt crib from Ikea. It's gray, has drawers, and a side comes off for a toddler bed. We want more kids soon, so we'll just get a bed for our first when baby #2 comes. It was like $200 or so.

I wanted a convertible cribs but then my SO brought up what if we have another baby? We would have to buy a crib again.

We got a 4 in 1 convertible crib. It's a crib, day bed, toddler bed, and full bed. My daughter sleeps in the crib and we plan to keep it and use it until it breaks or she grows out of the full bed. Her dad (my fiance) is 6'2 and she's already pretty long so I think she's going to need a big bed once she's a teenager so we won't be using it past the point of her needing a longer bed

We have bought a convertible crib, we have yet to try it really since our daughter is only 3 months. I was wondering this myself!

We got a good one that is convertable as well my son is obly 1 so still using the crib. As of now I plan on using that as his toddler bed when he's ready. I am pregnant with #2 and we got that baby a concetable crib as well.
