my boyfriend isn't an adult
I want so much for my future. I'm 21 he's 22, I'm working full time and studying online and he's working casual and makes no effort to get more work, look for work or study so he has the qualifications to get further in life. We've been together a little over a year but known each other for almost 3 years. I've always been an old soul, more mature for my age and I want to start the adult life. Buy a home, start a family, further myself in my career and move to better the future that I know I want and my partner is more interested in working as little as he can, buy a better car and drink with his buddies. His plan for the future is only to work and get money and upgrade his car, where mine is to further myself in my career and start a family and he doesn't seem himself wanting that for at least another 10 years. He doesn't want to settle and he won't listen to anything reasonable that I'm suggesting. It's like he's 5 years behind as to where I want to be in life right now. How do I approach a discussion with him without him feeling threaded or frightened about the future and expectations I have? He's told me he is settled with regards to only wanting me for the rest of his life, but I don't know if I am if we are so far away from what I want for our future. Is it too soon to be wanting the things I want with regards to our age? I don't know what I'm really asking, maybe just some guidance as to what the hell I should be doing or thinking. A littl advice? Has anyone else been with a partner who has no future goals other than them wanting a awesome car to show off to their friends?
