eczema reaction

My son started to develop really bad eczema, he's 3 months old.  It didn't really seem to bother him but was on his face and all over his abdomen and arms, so I took him to the doctor today.   The ped prescribed 1% triamcinolone acetonide cream.  Before I changed him into pjs tonight I applied the cream, about 45 mins later he was screaming.  I have never heard him cry and yell like this before.  I ended up giving him a nice warm bath and it was the only thing that calmed him down.  I'm not sure if he was itchy or if the cream caused some sort of reaction.  Has anyone else used this cream or dealt with bad eczema? I'm scared to use the cream again going forward but don't want him to be uncomfortable 😭
