Will my baby catch my cold?

My baby is only three days old and I EBF. My fiancés parents had a cold and invited themselves over to my house. I woke up this morning with a sore throat and I am dissapointed that they couldn't respect me and my son enough to wait until they were feeling better to stop by. But since I can't change that, is their anything I can do to keep my baby from catching it?

Your body will pass antibodies through your breast milk to your little one. If your little one does get a cold, keep a humidifier going and suction baby's nose if it interferes with eating.

Talk to your pediatrician and let them know youre sick. Yes, your baby can catch it. They may tell you to wear a medical mask. I'd definitely ask them for advice.  A fever of any kind in a NB is serious (colds usually don't have fevers but you never know)

My husband, 16 month old and I all had colds when my little one was born. He didn't catch it thank goodness and I was EBF. The pedi said none of us had to wear masks just good hand hygiene.

My 1.5 yr old has had a cold since I had my baby, 6 days ago. Is there a chance baby can catch it, of course, but you will pass antibodies through your breast milk which will help boost their immune system. I brought it up to the pediatrician and she said the usual just wash hands cover coughs etc. Like pp said if baby does get sick make sure you are suctioning their nose and watch for any fever. Any fever warrants a call to the pediatrician at this age.
