You're right - the average woman uses 11 THOUSAND tampons in her lifetime and, yes, that is a LOT of tampons. To make matters worse, 40 of the 50 United States have a "luxury goods" tax on tampons, pads, and other feminine hygiene products. Not cool. Alternatives to tampons include menstrual cups and reusable pads (trust us, they aren't as gross as they sound), but still, there's no good reason for something so crucial to women's health to be taxed.
