Picking a car seat!?

Question

Am I the only new mom having the most difficult time deciding which car seat to purchase for my baby?! I want one that safe & has great head support for my baby! Any suggestions?! Let me know!!

I'm 16 weeks & as soon as I start looking at car seats (and strollers) I get overwhelmed and give up lol. So many options !!

All car seats must meet the same safety standards so the differences are really about price, color, material, etc. I went with the chicco keyfit and am really happy with it. It's easy to install, not heavy, and has the infant insert. However I decided to go with a baby trend jogging stroller and not a chicco one.

Join consumer reports. They give rankings on ease of use, safety, etc. I think it's like six dollars but so worth it! I had the hardest time deciding. While all car seats must meet minimum requirements on safety standards they are not all the same! This drives me nuts when people say that! Some have additional features that EXCEED safety standards. While all car seats are safe I personally would rather have my baby in the safest thing possible. Some infant car seats have load legs or side impact protection that provide extra protection in a crash. When you get to convertible seats some have an anti rebound bar instead of the load leg that helps prevent movement in a crash. These things are standard in other countries. America hasn't caught on yet.

We loved Graco for our first born, and this little guy has his Graco waiting for him now. All car seats must pass the same safety standards so it really comes down to how picky you are about ease of strapping/latching them in and color/fabric. It's like with anything else - some brands cost more because they can, not because they are superior. You can go to a baby's r us or similar store and check out models to make up your mind and then hunt for deals online if you're trying to stick to a specific budget 😊

We hated our britax. The head support was too small and it barely fit my babies head (it didn't remove). We ended up buying a chicco fit2 and love it! Just our experience though!
