epidural: long term side effects?

Question

Interested in hearing if any moms have any long lasting side effects from an epidural? I'm not against one, however, recent family and friends who have had babies all told me to try and do it natural because now they have uncomfortable side effects (e.g random tingling in legs/feet).

Go for a walking epidural!! You maintain the use of your legs, it wears off FAST, and some feeling of contractions. The latter is great because when it's time to push, if you can't feel anything at all, they'll need to turn it off.

I have permanent nerve damage from having an epidural during my first labor 8 years ago. I get really bad sciatica all the time and sometimes lose feeling in one of my legs. After I have birth I wasn't able to walk for a week. I've only had natural labor since then and it's so much better.

I've had it an a spinal block and had no long term issues. Don't let people scare you out of what you want to do.

I wasn't a fan of my epidural with my first so for my next 2 I used Nubain. It can be put in your IV line or a shot in the hip. You still feel the pain, but you don't care. It was amazing. That's what I plan on doing with this labor and delivery as well. I had zero side effects except it made me slightly sleepy during labor. Totally worth it though.

I have no last effects from mine (my daughter is 1 now). It did hurt like a mother after it bruised (bruise took a while to heal) and I would say only downside to having it was my daughter was in observation for 4 hours right after she was born and I was so numb I couldn't go see her, and I was so numb while pushing that I didn't know I had pulled a muscle in my side while giving birth until the next day

No lasting effects from the three I've had. Honestly, the damn hospital bed hurt my back more than the epidural.

I had one with both of my boys and plan to have one with this one because I have long painful labors. Other than some occasional back pain around the site I would never take back have them. I would do it over and over again.
