NB diapers is up to 10 lbs. luckily my SIL gave me a inch of NB diapers she never used and my sis bought me two packages of size 1.
I think it'll be okay to get yourself atleast one pack of NB and then focus on size 1's

From what I've seen,  baby's weight is always over estimated via the ultrasound and measuring belly. Especially with tall babies!

Every baby is different. My first was born at 7lb 5oz but because of breast feeding issues she dropped down to 6lb 10oz. Which it's normal for them to lose some weight after birth. She was estimated to weight in at well over 8 pounds, but obviously that was off. She ended up in Newborn for almost a month and a half, where she went to a size one for what seemed a week. She stayed in a size two for a short period also, stayed in 3s and 5s the longest. Now she is in a size 6 where she will remin until I can potty train her.

They have like an estimated weight on the diapers. If the baby will be under 10lbs I would start off by buying Newborn. As this is my fourth child I didn't stockpile on diapers. I bought 1 box of N, 3 packages of size 1, 1 package of size 2, and a box of size 3 were given to me at baby shower. The rest I will play by ear.

I would get a small pack of newborn diapers just in case because  babies lose weight before  they leave the hospital. I had a 7lb 3oz baby and she wore a size newborn for a short time. Just get one to be safe.

Size 1. My hospital only does size 1, and my daughter at 5 pounds 13 oz was ok in a size 1
