Should women have to inform fathers of their children?

I was just having this conversation with a friend. She's pregnant and having a hard time with the baby's father. She said she almost wishes she had never told him about the pregnancy in the first place and just parented the child alone.
That got me thinking, should pregnant women HAVE to tell the baby's father about the child? Should there be legal repercussions if she does not? Why or why not?

If the pregnancy was a result of rape etc then no, they shouldn't have to be informed. Any other reason then yes they should, he has every right to know.

If she was raped then no. But if they both consented and everything is normal then yes. He has just as much right to the child as the mother. Also what if something happens to the mother... how can the father care for a child he doesn't even know exist?

If they're keeping it and the man isn't abusive, yes. He has every right to know about his child and a woman doesn't have the right to be petty with a child.

Yes the only reason not to is rape. Is it as much the man's baby as it is hers.

There's a lot of different factors so I can't say a blanket yes or no.

My cousin's mother never told my uncle about her. My cousin grew up without a father until about 18 or 19 and we had no clue she existed. Luckily she grew up pretty self sufficient and responsible, unlike her mother from what she's told me. We're pretty much the same age and I think it would have been nice for her to be ableto be   a part of our family for more than just the past few years and onwards.

I definitely feel if you don't want to have anything to do with the father, then you don't have the right to suddenly appear and demand backpay of child support, if that's a thing. Someone made that choice themselves after all. Of course he can just sign away all custody, rights, and costs too if he wants nothing to do with either of them.

I'm in between. In most situations I do think she should tell the father, but there are MANY reasons why she would not want to, or if she would feel unsafe doing so.

Yes, if at that point he chooses not to be around, block him change your number or only contact him from a number like phone ap or email if he wants to help out financially but not be present. Some guys don't want any part of raising the child but will come around if absolutely needed. I think in situations like that it's probably smart to limit forms of contact. Reduce it to just emails or text. But ever father (good or bad) has the right to know and have an opportunity to step up. If he chooses to deny his opportunity, fuck'em 😉🤷🏻‍♀️
