What is the best age gap for siblings?

I'm an only child so I literally have no experience to go off of.  I have a 13 month old son and the baby fever is hitting me pretty hard lately.  My plan is to wait until his second B-Day to start trying again.  Whether it be from your childhood or from parenting experience, what is the best age gap to have between siblings?

My brother sister and I are all 11 months apart. I guarantee this was super hard for my mom. I honestly would only wait until my first was completely out of diapers and that would be the perfect time to have another. 1. Diapers are expensive, 2. As close in age as possible will develop a closer bond, and 3. It's not fair when older kids are forced to care for their younger sibling. Yes the help is nice, but kids shouldn't have to parent alongside you

I read a study that said, medically speaking, 3 years apart is ideal because of how hard pregnancy is on the mother's body, and that everything from iron levels to bone density gets depleted.

My brother is 17 years older than me and my sister is 10 years older than me and I'm not close with either of them. I'm hoping my kids will have better relationships. My son will be 18 months when my daughter is born.

My brothers were 3 and 5 years younger than me. I like having a sibling close in age and am hoping to go between 2-3 years between babies, depending on how many we have. I think it's good to keep them close so they can grow up together but not too close cause then it'll probably feel like they're all leaving the house at once when the go to college or something.

My daughter turned 5 two weeks after my son was born and she is an amazing big sister. She always wants to hold him and talk to him. She is also a huge help. That being said I have baby fever bad right now and think we may start trying after little man turns one.
