Period and metformin?

Just started metformin 500 mg 1 week ago... I thought I got AF today because when I woke up I had bright pink discharge and have had bleeding up until now... It just stopped... Did anyone else experience this or could it be implant bleeding? Thoughts?

What are the reasons for metformin? I take it for gestational diabetes, haven't had any side effects like that x
