Do you like or dislike your mother in law?

Question

Its in our nature to speak about people most when they've done something wrong or that you dont approve of, so it doesn't surprise me that I often see MIL hate posts on here from women (myself included) venting their frustrations. I wanted to make a poll to see how everyone feels about their MIL overall.  For me, I generally dislike her but overall I'd say I feel indifferent. Do you like, dislike, or feel indifferent towards your MIL?

My MIL is a good person and she genuinely loves her family. However,  I really question her ability to be responsible and her attention to detail. For example, she's divorced from my husband's father and chose remarried the creepiest, most socially inept man on earth after everyone expressed their concern over him - including my husband and me telling her that she will never get to have her grandchild at her house because I don't trust him. And, even though we've told her 100 times that we're calling our baby Emmy, she still says Emma. That makes me feel like she may skim over something important (like installing the car seat correctly, for example) which could be potentially be dangerous.

She's nice but she makes me worry and not trust her.

My mother in law is honestly the most amazing person and she is one of my favorite people in the world and someone I'm closer to than most others.

Indifferent. She's a good person and doesn't talk about me, helps out, etc. At the same time we don't see each other a lot, don't talk much, don't have much in common so it's hard to be super close.

I use to have an ok relationship with my mil, I say ok because I DID like her, but she had a habit of speaking without thinking and sometimes her mouth got ahead of her. But a few years back my husband and I allowed her to move in with us when my fil told her to go, things went down hill rapidly from there. I was fighting nonstop for respect in my own home not just from her but my husband, and then my husband, her and her bf. I did end up making a stand and putting an ultimatum down on my husband, kicking her and her bf out and unfortunately everything ended with the cops being called on her and the guy. I haven't spoken to her since.

I am very lucky. She treats me like im her own daughter. Really makes me feel loved. I am happy i have her in my life and im happy my baby woll have such and awesome g-ma!!

i've had plenty of partners who had terrible parents, especially mothers. i was engaged for 6 months to someone who's mother vigorously lived through me and forced me into plenty of uncomfortable situations. obviously i'm no longer with that person, he stood his mothers ground, (nothing wrong with that) but i couldn't stand that forever! i'm sooo lucky my current hubbys parents are supportive and understanding, i'd be extremely stressed during this pregnancy if they weren't so amazing.

My husband's biological mother abandoned him and his siblings, among other things, so I really can't say that I like her.

His foster mom who had him from when his grandma had to give him up due to poor health until he turned 18 is awesome though and we get along great.

Most of the time I really like my mother in law. Now my two sisters in law are a completely different story.
