Bed rest or no bed rest?

I had an emergency cerclage placed at 19 weeks and 6 days because I had funneling and my cervix was shortened to 1cm. After the surgery the doctors told me I don't need to be on bed rest. I put myself on strict bed rest any way and after 4 days I went to an ultrasound to check cervical length and it had lengthened to a little above 2cm. I am currently 22 weeks and 3 days and so freaked out because i've been really bad with my bedrest. I am also on 200mg progesterone pills vaginally every night. My doctors keep telling me no bedrest is necessary ( I had 5 doctors tell me this ) but almost all the ladies who have this procedure or shortened cervixs were on strict bed rest and had healthy full term or almost full term babies. I am so conflicted and scared. Idk what to do. I just want to keep my baby safe. Any advice please?

Just to give you some hope I had a shortened cervix and was told I wouldn't make it past 34 weeks with my son, got the shot to speed up the development of his lungs . & I made it to 40 weeks and 1 day and had to be induced.

If it was me, honestly, I would stay on bed rest until 24 weeks and then incorporate just light activity until birth. Your so close to that viable stage though that I wouldn't want to risk it with a week and a half to go.

I wasn't placed on bedrest after mine either, and it was an emergency one inserted at 22 weeks. The bed rest only came later once they had to remove it.

To be honest, go with your gut. This is your baby and your job is to take care of him and do what’s best and safest for him. I’m on strict bed rest for short cervix as well at a hospital and I think bed rest is helping a lot :) hope this helps!

Many doctors now believe that bedrest is not beneficial. Prolonged bedrest does more harm to your body than good they say...which is true in most cases. Ive had a cerclage in since 14 weeks & have funneling for some months now. My specialist tells me activity as tolerated. My regular OB tells me bedrest. My cervix measured 0.7cm with funneling about a month ago. Ive never seen my numbers increase like everyone elses post i read. Im now 29w3d praying my cerclage continues to hold. Ive continued bedrest & weekly progesterone injections because its gotten me this far. & they all recommend I stop working though..Given that im a nurse...always on my feet.

I really understand your situation...I had a detachment early on in my pregnancy. The doctors said just to go about regular business but no heavy lifting or sex. That's all they said!! But when I researched I found lots of women were on total bedrest for the same thing....and I was bleeding and bleeding and it wasn't getting better only worse so finally I went on bedrest and I did stop bleeding...even tho I received a lot of opposition sadly from ppl who thought I was being 'too much', in my situation I'm glad I rested, it's what I felt like I should do and I wanted my baby to be ok sooo bad. And thankfully, he is up until now at 32 weeks even tho it's been rough. Honestly I'd just go with your gut. If anything happens it'll be on you and only you to deal with. And at least if you went with your motherly instincts you'd know you did your best. I really wish u the best I know it's hard to have such a responsibility!

Don't force yourself to be on bed rest, 5drs telling you, you don't beef it should be enough. Jus trake it easy, don't rearrange the whole house and run a marathon. Just keep to normal daily activities, light walks, housework, cooking etc..
