Preschool/ nursery school wait lists

My co-worker is 6 months pregnant and freaked me out today because apparently she thinks she waited too long to get on the wait lists for nursery school. I'm only 6 weeks (she doesn't know), but I guess we need to get on the wait list now? This feels crazy, like tempting fate. I haven't even been to the doctor yet! My little chocolate chip could have 3 heads for all I know. But I only get 6 weeks paid maternity and I don't want my poor little pumpkin to have to go to a subpar nursery if everything does work out.

Are any of you getting on preschool wait lists already?
