spotting

I am officially 20 days late now. I started spotting today it was really really light but I could tell it's a little brown but just wanted to know if there's a difference between spotting when you're pregnant or spotting when you're about to get your period? I usually start cramping really bad when my period is about to start I've had a couple cramps but nothing major. Just want to know if the spotting is any difference
