constant feedings?

My son is 3 months old, and he's been eating for more then 20 minutes. I feed him 10 on one breast and 10 on the other. His doctor actually told me I was feeding him for to long. I went to 8 minutes on each but he cried so I fed him more. Now for the past three days I feed him 10 and 10 again but an hour and half later he feeds for another 10 and 10 but he doesn't eat for 4 hours after. Is this normal? I thought as babies get older then are on the boob shorter but actually eat more

There's no such thing as feeding a baby too long? If he's hungry feed him. If he's not don't.

I think it's called breastfeeding on demand for a reason. It's usually the baby who sets the pace.  My eldest daughter would nurse an average of 20 minutes on each side. I breastfed for about a year and the length of our sessions never really changed (except for growth spurts). Unless there is a medical reason why your Pediatrician suggested reducing the nursing sessions I would let the baby nurse as long as needed.

I don't believe that is something your Dr can determine. You have to go by your baby's cues.

Your baby will let you know. Woman have a different flow of breastmilk, some are fast and some are slow. 
I wouldn't worry about what the doctor says, mine told me 8 minutes on each side, but my flow is really fast and my daughter would nurse for about 5 to 7 minutes and wouldn't take the other breast when she was little. Sometimes she will now and nurses longer now since she is older but each baby, and each breast is different.

My babe is the same way and I was concerned if it wasn't normal. But as long as he is fed well - gaining weight and wet diapers - you can feed him the way needs it. As long as it also works for you. It's hard having my son eat so much for about an hour and a half but then I get a good 3-4 hour nap from him
