Possible CPS involvement?

Question

I work in a daycare in the infant room, ages 6 weeks to 8 months. We have a little girl (10 months) who was in the room with me on Friday. Around 5:15 the girl started having a seizure, a first time thing. She seized for 20 minutes and by the time I was able to get someone down there to call 911 (I am not allowed to call 911), she had stopped. Mom arrived as soon as my manager called 911 and said not to have an ambulance come bc she would take her to the hospital asap. I found out today that she did not take her to the hospital or even to her doctor. I'm feeling very torn on how I should react to this information as the girl's teacher and as a person in general. What would you do if you were in this situation?

*Edit* We can't call 911 because we can't dial out on the phones in our rooms and we aren't even allowed to have our cell phones on us in the classrooms, which could result in my termination even though it was for a child. Also I know seizures are common, but for a first time seizure in an infant isn't it important to take them to the hospital??

The center should have it in place that she can't bring the child back until she has a medical notice something to chart that she does suffer from seizures just so that an extra eye can be kept on her at all times...

My niece has seizures and only one has had to result in going to hospital. It is more common than people think especially in younger children. Usually the seizures don't result in any effects after so long as the child is monitored. I personally don't think you should get the authorities involved. But that's just because I have personal experience with my niece.

I'd get that no phones rule changed. Or have your phone with you incase something else happens! I work at Disney and we aren't supposed to use our phones but if there's a need to call 911 you bet I will use my fucking phone and call. You work in a messed up place

I wouldn't call CPS. If you have basic medical knowledge you may not need to go to a hospital. It could have been a one time thing. It's not like the mom caused the seizure. It would be different if she had a broken arm and the mom didn't get that treated. There's not much you can do for a seizure after the fact.

I wouldn't say it's a neglect case. She may be more knowledgeable of her child's condition than u think. However I really don't see how that's a regulation to not even have a phone for emergencies or at least a line direct to the front that can only call out. I get the no cellphone thing but a land line? How is that even safe?

I've always been told that if it lasts more than 5 minutes to call 911.

Hell if the results of the episode were severe and after 20 minutes you did nothing to help I'm sure someone would be calling on your daycare's ass. 👀💧

Y'all don't have any sort of mandated reporting? Check your manuals and shit. Sounds like neglect to not have the child be seen for a 20 minute seizure but maybe she has an appointment in a few days... I don't know but the whole thing is fucked up.

So how many babies were in the room at the time and how many teachers? 
Hopefully they'll change their policy that way all workers can have cells on them. That is def! An emergency.
