LATE PERIOD!

Hey everyone, I have been off of birth control for over a year now and since it's been out we have been trying to convince our first baby.. it's been a rough year. We haven't tried anything other than unprotected sex and keeping out with my period and the times I am ovulating. I was supposed to start my period on the 4th and still no period or any signs of period. I took a pregnancy test after being late one day and another this morning and they were both negative. So my question is, should I wait longer or should I go to the doctor also any advice on trying to convince?
