How to switch from breast milk to formula??

Hi everyone im a FTM and my LO is 2 weeks old and my milk supply is low to keep up with his demands. I wanted to switch him to formula but not sure how its done. My doctor appointment isnt until next week to ask. They just told me to pick any brand formula. But im not sure if i should just feed him the formula and stop the breast milk all together or do it gradually. And if so how do i go about doing that. I dont want to upset his tummy. I chose enfamil gentalease formula for infants. Is that the same as newborn formula? Im so new to this i dont want to mess up. Please help. Thank you so much.

I started transitioning my daughter to formula last week. Our pediatrician suggested mixing half formula, half breast milk in each bottle for a week to help make the transition easier on her belly. We started on gentlease but found out she has a milk allergy so we are switching to soy. Let me know if you have any more questions. I was super overwhelmed and confused when I started switching her! With my first I gradually went from ebf to 50/50 over a couple weeks. Then did that until 4 month then she got teeth so I started completely weening until I was doing straight formula by 5 months. This baby is about 50/50 right now. It took about 2wks to get him here. I've used similac sensitive with both.

Not from personal experience but I think it will be rough on both of you if you switch at once. You'll have pain and engorgment and baby might have trouble adjusting.
I heard it's best to switch one feeding at a time until baby is fully switched over (or you might decide to do breast milk or formula if it works for you and your baby).
To prepare for engorgment, I recommend the lansinoh hot/ice pack. You can hand express or pump just enough to provide relief but not to empty the breast as that would stimulate milk supply.

I read the ingredients- they aren't the same. But I'm sure whatever will be fine unless your LO has an allergy (which you won't know until you try something). I think enfamil and similac make formula for supplementing breast milk. 
You could also call enfamil or see if your doctors office has a nurses line and ask them what they think.
