Does the status of someone make it different?

Hey CC,
I was chatting with an old friend and her mum (whose basically a step mum to me, we'll call her A), they know that I am in a relationship with someone who is older than myself. A said 'I personally don't think it's right but if you're happy then fine, but I won't support it'. Absolutely fine by me I never asked for tonnes of support. We then got talking about celebrities and A said 'oh but if you got with johnny depp I'd support you'. Right I know this is hypothetical, I'm not gonna be with johnny depp but he's a lot older than my SO. So does someone's status make a difference when it comes to relationships? Mine is specifically age gaps but I suppose it could go for other aspects of a relationship. I was just so shocked! I am fine with people not accepting my relationship or supporting me so long as they know I'm happy and looked after! So what's your thoughts and opinions on this?
