If the majority of gun deaths are suicides, how does the good guy bad guy argument for gun ownership make sense?

Keep in mind a majority of suicides by firearms are also veterans who have served in the USA. (Reported by the VA) 
   
Who are the "good" guys and who are the "bad" guys?

If you can stand for your veterans to respect them, why can't you put down your guns or fight for stronger gun laws to save them?

Look, I love my guns, do does my SO.. BUT I think gun control is the ONLY logical solution to the problems we have all over America. Not the ol "guns don't kill people..." Blah blah blah
Making sure people who are mentally instable do not have easy access to a gun is one step. And easier access to mental health is another step. 
Like I said, I love my guns. But I am competent enough to know that we have a big problem here. Anyone with a brain could figure that one out..

Bad guys - anyone who as much as utters gun control

That's the problem... there aren't any good or bad guys in this, just gun owners who's decisions cause a ripple effect.

My sister committed suicide via gun shot at 19 years old. She was deeply depressed and an addict. As was her boyfriend, the legal gun owner.  Precautions have to be taken to make sure the mentally inept are unable to get legal ownership of a gun. Gun control won't save al of the lives, but if it saves some doesn't that ma wit worth it? This all coming from a southern gun owner myself.  Itching against doing it legally if you are in right mind with no criminal back ground.

The argument doesn't make sense because the argument is deeply misinformed. There is no "good guy with a gun". We had a child accidentally kill herself with a gun near here recently. Her father is a cop and it was his service weapon.

I don't think you can compare the two. The only thing in common with suicide and "the bad guy" is mental illness I suppose.
But still, it's a little different. Suicide is, well suicide. And then there's someone, "the bad guy", who goes out into the public and shoots at people. If someone else on the scene had a gun with them, an innocent bystander, imagine the lives saved if they shot the bad guy to stop him from hurting anyone else. It's called self defense.

I think if you want to lower suicide rates then help the victims before they pull the trigger instead of taking away what they can use to kill themselves, which includes much more than guns btw. Not really important to the debate to me.
