infected naval piercing?

So I've had my belly pierced for about 6 weeks or so, I don't think it's infected because it doesn't have weird smelling puss or anything like that coming out but there is a thin layer of skin around both holes that is dry, but it was pierced with a dodgy metal, I was possibly thinking the reason it has been so red and looked like this for so long is maybe the metal bar, if I got a real gold or silver bar do you think it'd clear up?

Go to a professional and reputable piercer have them take a look and put a proper bar in. They will also tell you how to care for it. I would suggest sea salt water soaks if your not already doing them

It looks more as if it's rejecting rather then infected 
Rejecting is where your body just pushes it out which can happen for a number of reasons 
Go to your piercer to double check but if it is a rejection you'll have to take the piercing out

You should be using titanium I believe, also make sure it's the right size for your belly. I'd start by changing your belly bar to a different one but when you're changing it give it a salt bath

The piercer should have used a longer bar to allow the piercing to breath. Also your not supposed to change it out or even really mess with it for 3-6 months. They getting some water and mixing in as much non iodized salt as you can and put that on it three times a day until it starts looking better. No need to worry about puss or anything. Metal is not naturally in your skin so your body will try to expel it while its trying to heal the open wound (a belly button piercing isn't just poking a hole in the skin it actually takes a small chunk out)

That happened to me, my belly took a very long time to heal entirely. Just make sure you are sticking to the guidelines of how and when to clean it. Now I have no problems whatsoever (2 years on).

also, if you're worried about infection go and see a doctor ASAP! you can also visit your piercer at any time with any concerns. until you can see either professional, clean with ONYL saline spray (wound wash) or soap. avoid alcohols, oils or salt. don't touch it and keep an eye on it. another thing, if it IS infected DO NOT TAKE IT OUT. it can trap the infection and that is a lot worse. definitely ask what brand or material yoir jewelry is. you want to hear the words "implant grade". NOT stainless or surgical as they are lower quality.

Did you change it yourself? You're not supposed to change it for 3-6months. But if that's what they put in when you got it pierced then that must be some sketchy place because they're only supposed to use medical grade stainless steel. But it's definitely infected. Are you still cleaning it?
