Should I wait until I'm 18 to date Duane?

All of you might know me for asking about dating a man that 10 years older than me. 
Anyway, we have been talking and he says we have to wait until I'm 18 (next year). Do u agree with him or disagree?

Are you not mature enough to wait a year?  It sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders.  Why would you want to put yourself or him in a bad situation?  Respect him.  Respect yourself.  Wait.

I voted yes, but simply because of statutory rape laws in a lot of states are like mine. Here, legal age of consent is 16 but there's stipulations. One of them being, the older party must be younger than 10 years older than the younger party. (So age gap below 10 years). In your case, you could be 17 and plenty old enough to consent for yourself (assuming it's 16 where you live and not 18) but because he's 10 or more years older, he could still get in trouble with the law. If you don't think your parents would care (wouldn't press charges) and you aren't going to, then there wouldn't be harm in not waiting. But, for his peace of mind, probably best to wait.

Depends on the laws wherever you live. I believe in most places the age of consent is 16. That being said I ain't judging but what does a 17 year old and a 27 year old have in common? Maybe you two have a lot of common interests and to things talk about, idk you or your relationship. But I'm only 24 and could never imagine dating a 17 year old..

My husband and I are 17 years apart so I understand the age gap issue, I was 19 when we met so it was legal. I say wait until you turn 18, and if you still feel the same way persue it then. There's no reason for anyone to get in legal trouble, a short time waiting will only make your relationship stronger if it's meant to happen
