Not your Shield

Just so you guys are aware because this happens a lot on here and on other social media platforms tbh, you don't get a special gold star for having a lesbian/gay/trans/black etc friend. You don't get to say homophobic/transphobic/racist things and then try to deflect and defend yourself with "but I have a lesbian friend" "I have a latina friend" or "but I'm dating a black guy" these people aren't your shield to use when you're being a bigot and people are pointing out your homophobia/racism etc. And honestly 95% of you are probably lying anyways, but you think if you say that then you magically aren't being ignorant or hateful/toxic. Stop using these people and this excuse to alleviate your guilt and ignorance. This has been a PSA for the CC community.
