I went tovthe ER this morning from kidney pain and they said i have a UTI. What are causes of uti's?? Im 18 years old.

Bacteria getting into your urethra. Make sure you wipe front to back and always try to pee before and after sex. You can also drink 100% cranberry juice to help fight it along with lots of water.

Not peeing after sex. I used to get them all the time when my boyfriend and I first started having sex because my bacteria wasn't used to his bacteria.

Holding your bladder too long also causes UTIs.

Thank you so much. I did get medicine one to treat the uti and pain medicine. Im still in alot of pain though it hurts to walk or lay a certain way. Any thoughts i could ease the pain?

I usually get a uti from not drinking enough water. I get them bad, I haven't been drinking alot of water as of lately and luckily I haven't had one in awhile but in due time if I don't I know I'll get one again but not enough water does it.

Also there is medication called AZO that helps fight the symptoms if you can't get to a doctor soon or you are uncomfortable.

Another way to prevent them is to wear cotton undies. And if you don't like the taste of cranberry juice there are cranberry pills. Juice works better but the pills help also.
