need some advice

So, my boyfriend and I have been dating for almost a year now. We are completely comfortable around each other for the most part. He doesn't like talking about certain things when it comes to sex and stuff. It's kind of annoying I guess, but I don't know if I should try and change him or just let it go. I've tried telling him certain things to do in bed.. I like it when he's dominate and talks to me during sex, but I think he's just embarrassed or something and never does it. What should I do?
