Runny Poo: What's Normal?

So my husband has a concern.

Our baby has had a few runny poos the past few days. Whenever I change it, it's been "normal runny".

He swears this last one had straight water come out. I didn't see any. So what's normal for our 10 day old? He's mainly formula fed with breast mixed in.

Newborn baby poop is super funny. Diarrhea or constipation would be almost unheard of. Breastfeed poop especially.

I have 3 kids, all breastfed. Newborn poop is gross, nasty, and very fluid. No solid poops until solid foods at 6 months.

Be ready for lots of poop changes. At 6 weeks or so poops will no longer be a reflex. Baby will have to learn what muscles to use. Days will go by without poop coupled with lots of grunting and bitching from baby. Also not constipated and totally normal. It's a short lived phase where baby needs to figure out what muscles to use. Unless poop is solid, which would be very rare, baby is not constipated.

Also breastfed babies (if you back off on the formula) can go up to 10 days without pooping. Some from the time baby learns how to poop on his own, and 6 months when starting solids, all of my boys only pooped once a week. Also totally normal.

Baby poop the first 6 months is baffling, but all of these changes should be both expected and normal. Keep at it Mama
