Has anyone else experienced this?

I just got a call from the hospital in my area saying that my doctor wanted them to do an ultrasound to check my cervix? They didn't schedule the appointment until June. I just had my 8 week appointment and ultrasound last week and she never mentioned anything about this. The baby looked fine and everything. Has anyone else had this happen? When I asked the receptionist if this was a normal thing she said she wasn't sure why the doctor wanted them to do it?

At 16 weeks my dr sends everyone to a perinatologist for cervix check and nuchal translucency ultrasound and then again at 20 weeks for anatomy scan because they have better equipment and more skilled techs than the regular ob. Cervical check and placenta check are part of the scan but not the only focus. You cab definitely call your ob and leave a message for the nurse to find out why the referral was made. When they made the referral my 1st pregnancy they didn't explain it either and I just got a call from the specialist and it freaked me out thinking something was wrong, but it was just standard procedure at my practice and I guess they forget to explain it for some reason.
