when did you start rice cereal?

So my daughter is just about 2 months, & she's non stop eating lately it's getting crazy she's having 6oz every hour sometimes 2 hours. I'm not giving her cereal til I get the okay from the doctor but I'm curious to know when you all started your babies on cereal? How much did u give them? Do you mix it with formula? & did u feed it to them through the bottle or in a bowl? Because I've heard you're actually not supposed to give it through a bottle bc it's unsafe but some people have been telling me to put it in the babies bottle?

Never. It's not necessary and not nutritious.

I have 3 boys. The recommendation for solids is 6 months+ when baby shows signs of ready including sitting unassisted and losing the tongue thrust.

I started my boys at 6 months on vegetables; avocado and/or sweet potatoe. No reason at all to rush this milestones. There are many medical reasons to wait including studies citing immature digestion.

My daughter we started her at 3 months mixing one teaspoon with 4oz of milk put it in her bottle 2 times a day (doctor approved) I see my son's doctor today and going to talk to them on giving him oatmeal not cereal mixed with milk either by spoon or bottle (he has reflux and is eating none stop he's over 13lb)

My pediatrician adv me to start rice cereal in her formula at 2 months but because she couldn't handle just the straight liquid and it helped with her reflux as well. We just added enough to thicken lithe formula a little bit.

If your doctor okays it that's fine (the AAP doesn't recommend it, but some doctors well in certain cases & some people believes it helps fill baby up more, but there's no proof of that). I started oatmeal cereal at 6 months. It has some nutrition to it & is fortified with iron which is good since breastfed babies get less iron from milk starting at 6 months. I have heard that oatmeal cereal is better bc rice cereal can sometimes constipate baby.

I started baby foods at 4 months because my baby was sitting up and showing intrest (he also wanted to feed himself then) we started real food like whatever we eat he eats type stuff at 6 months. Eats better then most afults. He will eat anything we give him which is all healthy/clean eatung stuff.

I started adding it to my son's bottles at around 3 months (both formula and breastmilk) My pediatrician reccomended it because of his reflux and slowed growth. After I was done breastfeeding (supply diminished and he would no longer latch) we switched over to a formula with added rice starch like Enfamil AR.
