Has anyone ever experienced Braxton hicks before real contractions?

Since I'm 40 + 4 I had a sono and then after I got hooked up to this machine, since I work up this morning I've been having Braxton hicks and still am. Never happened this long before. I asked the lady if I was having contractions and she said yes about 3 minutes apart. I'm like oh okay, she asked me do I feel them I said yes and she asked for my pain level and I told her I had no pain and she looked at me weird lol. Everything was just tightening up and uncomfortable.
