May baby became my April baby!

Adrienne

I woke up Saturday morning, April 22 not really feeling well. I was extremely nauseous and had a horrible headache. My husband and I went to run our normal weekend errands and I decided while he got his haircut I would get a pedicure. After that we grabbed some lunch and I wasn't able to eat due to the nausea. We decided to go home and take a nap. I slept for an hour and I really had to pee. I sat down on the toilet and felt something pop but then nothing happened, so I finished peeing and went to my room to get dressed. As I bent over to pull my pants up I felt a warm gush of water run down my legs. My husband was on the phone to work at the time and I told him I thought my water just broke. He hung up immediately in shock because we weren't due until May 12th! We did have a feeling he was coming early though. We called the doctor who told us to come into the hospital. We got there around 3:30pm and they checked to make sure it was indeed my water and it was. They admitted me and started pitocin since I was not having any contractions. The doctor told my husband and I to expect to be in labor for 12-18 hours. This is our first child! So all night I was having little contractions but I was not feeling them. So when they got two minutes apart she checked me because I was still not feeling the contractions just the back pain. I was still only at 3cm which is what I was when I went in. She had told me that it felt like I still had a water bag and she was going to get the doctor to check me. So he came in and had to pop my water because I had so much and it was replacing itself as it was coming out. After he did that I felt the contractions and boy oh boy were they rough. I decided at two am to get the epidural. After the epidural the nurse put my catheter in and checked me again. I was now at five cm but I still had a ton of water. So she popped it again. At five am she checked me and I was at 9cm!!!! My husband and I were so excited we had barely slept all night. We live nine hours from all of our family so we started calling everyone just letting them know we were close. At six and by the time we were done with the phone calls we were finally at 10cm!!!! Great!! My doctor was in the middle of delivering another baby so we we're told we would push at 7:30am. At 7:30am we started pushing. We pushed for an hour and a half and the nurse told me the baby was still sunny side up. The doctor came in to try to rotate the baby by himself. After he did that, which hurt very badly by the way, the baby's heart rate dropped. It was so scary. They called in a whole team of nurses and were rolling me back and forth to try to get it to come back up. It did finally and they told us they were going to give us an hour for baby and myself to rest. My husband and I were very nervous. We had two miscarriages before we got pregnant with our rainbow baby so we just wanted him to be okay! After that hour the nurse came back in and said to try pushing again. We pushed one more time and his heart rate dropped again. She called the doctor immediately and he decided we were going to do a c section! They got us all prepped. They wheeled me in the OR at 10:45am and my baby was born on April 23, 2017 at 11:02am! We were 37 weeks and 2 days pregnant! He weighed 8lbs even and was 21 and 1/2 inches long!!! The cord has gotten wrapped around his neck after the doctor moved him which was why his heart rate kept dropping! He is so beautiful and healthy and my husband and I couldn't be more in love!!! Even after 19 hours of labor I would do it all over again for this precious little boy we now have in our lives! Good luck to all you other Momma's on here!!!
