Which birth control is best for me?

I'm 17 and my mom is taking me some time this week to get me on birth control. She wants me to take the pill but I'm really bad at remembering and I'm never at home around the same time everyday. I have a friend with an implant but I would just like a little more insight on birth control from people who have experienced it.

Getting an IUD was the worst thing I ever did for myself. I didn't want to get on the pill because I would never remember to take it. A year later I sucked it up, got my IUD out and got on the pill. I just set reminders on my phone and I never missed a pill.

When I was on the pill, I always had to set an alarm to remind me to take it cuz I always forgot when to take it

Try the nuvaring. You only have to remember it twice a month > when you put it in and after three weeks when you take it out. Lowest dose of hormones but should be fine.

I personally didn't have a good experience with it but my body just responds bad on all the BC options I tried, so that's just a problem I have. 
So go in it open minded and you will most likely be fine. If you hate it you can switch to something different.

Well, honestly, I started off with the pill and took it for five years. I thought I loved it and thought it was great, until I switched to another method and figured out just how many side effects I was having from it. I must've been having half of the side effects listed just on the pack, if not more. It was terrible. I tried other pills and they made it worse.
Anyway, I switched to nuvaring and I'm not noticing anymore of those side effects. Not that I never have any at all, but I have less and they're significantly less severe than the pills side effects were. With nuvaring, you leave it in your vagina for 3 weeks, take it out for 1 week for your period. That's the only thing you have to remember, and you can mark your calendar for week 1, 2, 3, and so on.
Just talk to your doctor about what your best method might be and go from there. 😊

I wish I started with the pill. My first and current BC is the depo shot and it was a horrible decision. Currently 6 weeks into a period, hair falling out and weight gain... not cute. The bar implant can break, even by accident, and that can be really bad for you body if that happens. IUDs sound like a good option but can possibly cause scarring or cysts in your uterus. All worst case scenarios but nonetheless true. I would start with the pill honestly, it has worked great for everyone I know that has taken it.

The pill is a safe choice. If you don't like the particular one you are put on, there's plenty more to try that may work better for you. If it's not working for you, it's a lot easier to switch than an implant would be.

I was afraid I wasn't going to remember to take the pill, but, I just have an alarm set. Plus, the window of when you take it is somewhat flexible.

I was originally going to do the implant but didn't go in time to get it so would've had a bruise on my wedding day. I was put on the pill instead. First one I tried was awfully terrible. I moved after the wedding and stopped taking it. I asked my new doctor about the implant but he didn't recommend it because of how I was on the first pill. The new pill I am on is amazing.
