Question for co-sleeping momma's

My son and I cosleep. He is now 2. I don't plan to kick him out of the family bed until he is ready. He has always slept best that way. But I don't feel it's safe to put my newborn in the same bed with the three of us when she comes. For those of you that cosleep and have a new baby coming.. What did you do? I plan to use a bassinet to start with for my girl but if we have the same issues that came up with my son I might need other ideas so we all sleep better.
