how do people afford IVF?

My insurance won't cover any of it. We are unexplained infertility. We did clomid, trigger shot and timed intercourse this cycle. I just have a feeling it didn't work. I'm sort of thinking down the line here. Possibly trying IUI next cycle. Do people take out a loan for this? By the time we would save up this money it would be a long time from now. So I feel like a loan is our only option. I would love some insight

A couple that lives in our town literally set up change buckets at all the little shops and gas stations with a card explaining why they were asking for donations, they had bake sales and car washes, yard sales with items donated by members of the community, they asked the local churches who all took up a special collection for them, sports leagues and school events had donation tables set up... They took up odd jobs - fixing fence, feeding cattle, planting tobacco, handiwork, babysitting, elderly sitting, you name it...  We live in between two small farming towns that are about 10 miles apart. One has a population of 176 and the others population is less than 50 people.... Its amazing what this tiny community was able to do to help this couple, they were able to recieve treatments for fertility issues, conceived twins and then went on to adopt a local child with what money was left over. Where there is a will there is a way... They worked their butts off for two years to get to that point, plus saving up their own money, but they did it! To top it off they are always involved in community projects and helping out their neighbors when they need it. They havent forgot what their community did for them.. There is something to be said for our small towns and the people who live here.

Fertilitycare.com has a ton of resources for couples who are struggling with infertility! I know lots of women who were diagnosed as infertile by medical professionals, and were able to conceive with the help and resources from fertilitycare!
Most doctors like to see a year's worth of ovulation tracking before they proceed with fertility treatments, sometimes even two years.

We were doing IUI but looking into IVF. There are medical credit cards that offer 0% interest if paid off in a certain period of time but we were looking into a loan from our credit union. Financial institutions are more willing to loan for medical than for a car or house. We ended up conceiving with IUI. Each month cost about $800 and we did 4 months total.

I got a minor discount from Compassionate Care. We took out a bank loan for some of the cost.  We used a credit card to pay for the cost, used loan money to pay down the card, and used rewards from the credit card to pay for Christmas presents... also, this, along with all our other out of pocket medical expenses in 2016, gave us enough for a tax deduction, so we got a good bit back in taxes this year (saved tons of receipts). So we're just left with some of the bank loan now, and we got a decent rate on that.

I know it sounds risky but we took a loan out, we were desperate. For my mess I applied for compassionate care and got approved for up to 50% of my Gonal F and Ceteotide which helped so much !

Loans, grants. Credit cards. I have heard it all. Mine was partially covered by insurance. You may look into getting an extra insurance plan that does cover ivf. It may be slightly exspensive but no where near what IVF can cost.
