Wake newborn at night to feed?

My baby is 2 weeks old now. I've been waking him about every 2 hrs to breastfeed, but do I need to do this over night too? If he wants to sleep 3-4 hrs can I let him?

I made the mistake of not feeding my LO when he slept all night. He didn't gain weight properly and was always really thirsty. Feed every 3-4 hours. Hospitals will come in and make sure baby is fed during the night. Not only will he gain weight properly but he'll sleep longer and better too.

No let him sleep when he gets hungry he will wake up on his own. You really shouldn't wake a baby up to feed

Even in the hospital I think they told me to make sure he eats every 3-4 hours at night. He was at risk for jaundice.

If baby is gaining normal weight I think you can let him/her sleep at night. However, if it's day time you can wake him/her up for feedings. This way you and baby can sleep more at night if he/she wants to.
The exception is if baby isn't losing more body weight then you have to wake him/she up for feedings.
