Bleeding After Cervical Check?

Question

So I went in for my 38 Week Appointment and my OB checked my cervix (which is always extremely painful for me for some reason) and she said I was at a 1. She moved her finger around a lot in there for probably about 10 seconds and I had a moderate amount of bleeding afterwards. Is that normal? Could she have done a membrane sweep without telling me?

When I mentioned the blood, she said it was normal after that kind of exam and she admitted that she examined me "kind of aggressively" and I almost wonder if she was trying to aggitate my cervix and get things progressing faster down there. The nurse even said beforehand that things might start moving along faster from her "messing around down there." And my doctor said to me before I left "come see me again next week if you haven't had a baby yet" like she's expecting it to come before my 39 Week Appointment.

Am I just being paranoid? It was enough blood to fill up two panty liners.

Edit: I forgot to add that after she did this, I started experiencing a lot more pelvic pressure and period-like cramping throughout the night last night (neither of which I had really been dealing with before my appointment).

She wouldn't of done a sweep without asking unless she's looking to lose her license. I know from my checks they do move around to check if they can stretch it a little then they might say your more 1.5 than one.  But the bleeding is normal.

Probably just an agressive cervical check. I sometimes bleed after mine, sometimes I don't. I was gushing bad after my first, and it stopped the next day. And they usually warn you that you'll possibly bleed and will feel cramps. It's normal

I am always told that some cramping and bleeding after a cervical check is completely normal.. I actually had one yesterday was told that same thing then to. However I haven't experienced any bleeding but did experience the pressure and cramping.. But I was told by my doctor that it's very common to happen after they check you.

It's normal my doctor said he was almost positive I would experience bleeding and is expecting baby to come before we see each other next and this time my cervix check really hurt. But so far no bleeding and no baby. I don't honk the further along you get the more it hurts.

Sounds normal to me at least! I've had my cervix checked three times the last month by 2 different drs and i had bleeding each time. I'm 39 weeks today and they both said that at this point a little bit of bleesing is normal after being checked as well as after having sex. But if you feel like there is a lot of it continues after a couple days or if you just dont feel right about it go ahead and call your provider! I call about stuff all the time haha I'd rather be safe than sorry 😊 being checked was also super uncomfortable for me too.. but i so like knowing that the cramps I've been having are doing something!

Those are normal cervical check things. They told me that I could continue to spot for 3 days after. And they always give me cramps! I've never had my membranes stripped but I heard it's worse than a check.

Sounds like a quick membrane sweep to me. I'm sorry your doctor didn't ask you! I had a sweep done Tuesday at 39 weeks but was asked if I wanted it. Mine took about 2 minutes and still no labor but tons of cramping and discharge. It seems to be pretty common that doctors are just doing this routinely now.

I would be really upset about that if I were you. It sounds like she did a membrane sweep without even asking you for your consent first. I'm sorry that happened to you.
