College? What do you do for a living?

I am 21 years old and I definitely want to do something with my life but the thing is, is that I still don't know what I want to do or be. I have always wanted to work with child or animals but I have such a soft heart that I won't be able to handle a bad situation very well. I am also not the brightest, I was lucky to graduate high school, but I know if I find out what I actually want to do I will work hard to become it. I also not sure how online colleges work. Or the payment processes or anything. I just need help guys? And maybe list some professions or your profession to help me get closer into knowing who and or what I wanna be.

If you don't know what you want to do, go to a community college for two years and knock out the basics. It'll save you time and A LOT of money. If you're not good with self discipline or time management, avoid online classes. They're easy to fall behind in. By the time you get an associates you should have a better idea of what career path you want to take and can transfer to a 4 year program or make another move. 
Here's some more advice: If the school you're interested in has a TV commercial, avoid it like the plague. Never take out a private loan, only federal and only when 100% necessary. Stay in state and live at home if possible to save money. And research scholarships at the library where they have huge books filled with lesser known opportunities you can snag. When its time to work, focus on finding a job that fills your wallet more than your heart.  Seriously. Passion is nice, but it doesn't always pay the bills and there will be bills. Part of being an adult is doing things you don't like sometimes so you can fund the things you love. Suck it up.

Last, but not least, you dont have to figure out your life overnight. You'll feel lost sometimes and that's ok. Just take it one step at a time.

I am going to college for early childhood education. That means I can do home childcare, teach preschool, be a childcare director, etc. I currently work as a nanny and make nearly as much as I will once I graduate! Being a nanny is amazing and so rewarding, but you don't get the benefits of money in retirement, insurance, etc.

I am a Registered Nurse, it was always what I wanted to do! Try googling different professions relating to the topics you are interested in and research them (details, degree needed, what the the job entails) to see if it would be a good fit for you. You can always just start school with a major in liberal arts until you figure out what it is exactly that you would like to do.

What I didn't do and wish I did was go to a community college and do General Ed. I was stubborn and didn't think I needed to until I knew what I wanted to do. I'm now 27 trying to get it done. Thankfully I am about to graduate in December. I really wish I did the Gen Ed but I wish I got into school earlier.

I would recommend to do some volunteering at places to see how you like it.

Ha just kidding.... I was in college for child development, but dropped out to become a stay at home stepmomma. Stay in school and maybe have a counselor at school talk to you and discuss your options.

I have 2 associates degrees one in early childhood education/sped and the other in elementary education/sped and I will be starting as a junior at a university in the Fall to transfer my associates degree and get my BA in elementary education/sped and then I will be able to teach in a public school. I am 20 years old but will be 21 in the Fall and the next two years of schooling will cost me roughly 20k. I currently work as a two year olds teacher in an early learning academy with benefits and paid health care however, I don't make a lot of money doing what I'm doing but for now it will get me by I guess
