If abrahamic religions are relatively new (in comparison to many others), why would you follow their practices?

I personally, would not. I strongly feel that religion is another form of control, and I don't like anyone or thing controlling any aspect of my life, choices, or accountablity.

I wouldn't follow any of them. The existence of religion in the world merely ensures forcing ideology on people and spreading blatant lies are perceived as blindly acceptable.

For me I see all peaceful religions as providing a path to God. I like the teachings of Jesus, and find them applicable today. I found a Christian community of like minded individuals whose company I genuinely enjoy. If it had been a temple, mosque, synagogue, etc I would have been ok with that too, and enjoy visiting them when invited.

Religion is man-made, in my opinion. I feel like it was just a way to help people understand the world around them, to explain things that didn't make sense to them at the time. It was, and still is, a way to cope with their fears of death, disease, etc.
I wouldn't follow any of those religions because I don't believe in a higher power and I have science to explain much of the world that didn't make sense when those religions were first created.

I'm not religious and I don't follow any of them. To me, they are all stories to help people back then to understand their surroundings and help them cope with the unknowns. If you look at each of them, they make perfect sense for the region they came from and the time they were in. They are a way of power and control. Despite the fact that everyone thinks these three are different, they actually are VERY similar. The hardcore believers in all three have a lot more in common than they think 🙂

Many discoveries/ways of thinking are relatively new, in that way if thinking. Mankind recently discovered that we live in a heliocentric solar system, for example. Women recently have started to become recognized as peers to men in large scale societies. Religion and culture is constantly evolving and changing, just like human beings. All institutions made by mankind, including religion, government, culture, marriage, and even currency are in essence made up and highly fallible. That doesn't mean they don't have valid and very real principles like ownership, live, needing to belong, and needing order at the base of them. Perhaps god is at the base of those 'recently' developed religions.

I'm an atheist by the way. Just sticking up for my sisters who are believers! I mean jokes on me if I'm wrong, right?
