PCOS Confusion

I have been trying to get pregnant going on 8 years now. I haven't done anything with Dr's the last few years because my bank account was wiped clean after 3 failed IUIs. When I realized how long it had been since my last OB appointment, I scheduled one. Much to my surprise, the OB tells me in my fertility Dr's notes that I have a history of PCOS. No one has ever told me I have PCOS. So I'm really confused. They ordered some fasting bloodwork and called me today stating that I am not insulin resistant. When I asked about the PCOS, the nurse just told me yes, that I do have it. Can you have PCOS and not be insulin resistant?
