broken blood vessel in the eye?

This morning I noticed a red mark on my baby's eye. He'll be 4 months on May 13th. He seems fine, not in pain nothing is coming out of his eye. I called an on-call nurse but she wasn't any help. I don't want to take him to the ER if it's not necessary. Will this go away on it's own? I have no idea why it happened.

This happened to me at some point last year. I went to the doctor and they basically told me that it was a blood vessel that popped. Nothing to worry about, it'll clear on it's own in a week or two. Just make sure he's not in pain and there's no discharge--- if that's the case then he'll be fine. I remember freaking out when it happened to me.

Broken Blood vessels in the eyes are common. They are called so sub-conjunctival Hemorrhage. They are harmless. They look worse than they are. Usually takes 7-10 days to go away. I work for an eye doctor. We see them daily. Hope this helps. :)
