help TMI

AF is due today or tomorrow. TMI part.... after a bowel movement today when I wiped there was very mucus stained pink and a little bit of red . I figured AF is in so I'm out. That was about 4 hours ago. Since then it has just been brown stained mucus, no more bleeding. Has anyone ever had this before. With my periods there is never any mucus in the beginning and at most it's bright red spots. This is not normal for me. Isn't brown old blood?
