Say your child asks you to do something potentially embarrassing, yet harmless like take their baby doll on all your errands, keep it strapped into a car seat or shopping cart, and even feed it. Even if they asked for photos, you could just pose for the moments and not take it seriously. What would you do? Would you be fully honest and do it or would you fake it?
On one hand, it is just a little white lie and your kid wouldn't know if you didn't say anything. On the other hand, you made a promise and shouldn't you stand by your word?

I'd play along. My child means more to me than temporary embarrassment from strangers. When I was little I had 3 imaginary friends and everyone in my family acknowledged them😂 they all helped me strap them in their seats and whatnot.

My husband takes a stuffed animal on deployments and takes photos of him wherever he goes. Even his work friends will pose with "horsey". 
It's a creative way for them to communicate and share an experience. He's never been embarrassed to carry around a stuffed horse and pose him in a cockpit 🤣

Honestly? If they were there with me I'd do it. But if I didn't have my child with me I wouldn't put the doll in the shopping cart and go shopping. That's just weird.

I would full on acknowledge it. Even a little white lie I wouldn't do. I don't want my kids to grow up as liars. Hell I carry my daughters' frozen purses around for them and their dollies while in public. Idc what others think. I'm making my toddlers (1 and 2) happy. 😊

I wouldn't make the promise in the first place if I knew I wasn't going to keep it. How can I teach my child to keep promises he makes to me of I don't keep promises I make to him?
