don't know what to do

I'm on a break from my partner. He hasn't removed me from Facebook and still has me in his profile photo with him. I'm so confused. I just wish he'd phone or text me.  He said he would get in touch with me next week and said that we both need time to gather our thoughts, he gave me a hug and snogged me before we began this 'break'. I feel like asking him if we're over or if there's a chance together. Because having a week apart will make things worse if we do break up. It's prolonging the pain. My sister and friends have all said I should wait for him to contact me but I feel like he is going good to wait the full week before giving in and I'm the one left thinking about everything. He knows what I want and we spoke for 2 hours about us.
