I have read that it does cause some underdevelopement for the brain! Not sure if it's true, I read it awhile ago. I'm sure a doctor wouldn't allow it if it was bad. A lot of doctors actually recommend it for some pregnancies.

I had an OB who could not recommend it at the time, as it was not legal in our state, but who has worked in many countries and said it has very few side effects, if any. The problem that you run into with studies in the US is that most of the research is done based on self-reporting, and the mothers were using alcohol, tobacco, or both along with the marijuana. It’s a hard question because smoking is generally considered unsafe during pregnancy, it doesn’t matter what it is. There can also be repercussions if you or your baby are drug tested at birth and you live in a state where it isn’t legal. I had never even seen marijuana in real life until I was pregnant with my daughter. At 13 weeks, I had the worst migraine I had ever had. I took literally one hit, and it was relieved enough for me to sleep and let it resolve. I did edibles only a few times (they were medical-patient grade, and I took too much without knowing at the time. It scared me from edibles for a long while). I quit completely at 20 weeks, but had only used marijuana probably 6-8 times in that timeframe, including the edibles. I’m scared this pregnancy. I’m miserable, but I’m seeing a doctor in a state where it isn’t legal (it is in the state I live in now), so I’ve avoided it. I am going to probably try some high quality CBD, as it does not have the same side effects that are theorized in some studies, and it won’t cause a positive drug test. I’m really hoping it helps. I have lost 5 lbs this week due to the vomiting, and it’s still early in my pregnancy. If it helps, I have several close friends who smoked marijuana their whole pregnancies (but no use of other substances), and their babies are fine, several of them way ahead of the curb on their development, and they were normal birth weights with no complications.
