Should I go to a party I want to go to even though my boyfriend doesn't want me to?

There's a party I want to go to tomorrow and my boyfriend doesn't want me to go. He can get very jealous and I guess he just doesn't like how guys hit on me when I'm at them.

It's my sister's graduation tomorrow and although the party isn't meant for her, she still wanted to go to celebrate and I wanted to be there for her. I already told him he could come along but he said he doesn't do parties and that part of his life is in the past. I just want to go to catch up with some friends and I don't even plan on drinking that much.

I know he's gonna be upset, but I'd really like to go.

Go and celebrate your sister's accomplishment. It's not like you're trying to go wild without him. You invited him and he declined. Just because he "doesn't do parties" doesn't mean you have to stop living your life. If he doesn't trust you, that's his problem, not yours.

Normally I would say you should abide by your partners wishes but in this case he's clearly bein an unreasonable douchebag unless there's something about us you aren't telling. But regardless we don't know all the aspects of your relationship and really it's not our business. If you're letting total strangers influence the decisions you make in your relationship then that's a whole other issue

I recall when I was 25, my bf at the time was shocked when I wanted to go to a friend's housewarming party, something I thought was perfectly innocent.
 
He gasped and said 'But parties are for SINGLE people!!' and looked shocked. It was as if I'd announced we were going to an orgy 😄
