would you be upset?

I just got my first job. I'm 20 and it's part time but it's my first real work experience. I got the license in January and have been searching for a job ever since. I told my bf that I got the job and I was so happy and he just goes k. I am always happy for him and he knows how hard I worked to get this job. I applied to so many places, had interviews that I never heard from and got told no by so many people. He's just all worried when he is going to see me but shouldn't he be proud of me and not brush me off? I don't need a gift or a party (does that make sense??) but like maybe just acknowledging it and how he's proud of me.
