Am I the only one?

I wanna buy stuff for my baby not get free/used stuff I would if I had too but I just feel better about myself buying things and not taking free/user items I don't know why...  I can't be the only one can I?

Don't feel bad. People are trying to be nice but i seriously felt like i was handed down a lot of junk people just never bothered to throw away.  I kindly accepted it and then took it to goodwill once i knew i wanted to buy new.

No I've brought all new for all 3 of my babies and buying new for this one too I'm even buying a new cot and I already have one ! I'm going to sell it and use the money for the new one I've ordered a new pram too and I have one stored at my nans that's perfectly use able , I just feel that I have to for some reason I just love buying new stuff for each baby

I'm the same, its lovely of people to offer their stuff but as its our first i want to buy my own things. Its so hard to tell people who offer that you want to buy your own stuff without offending them but im sure they understand.

My first baby I wanted to buy everything myself. After about 6 mo. I realized how expensive it was and was glad for gifts, hand-me-downs, and thrift store deals.

I think it all depends on who is offering. My sister has two children under the age of three and all of her baby items are still in brand new condition. I'm gladly excepting them. There are a couple items I said I wanted to get myself that I will use so often and I want to make sure I really like them.

I'm the same! I hate sayingn no to people but when it comes to used stuff for this one and my eldest I just can't accept it. Not being a snob just don't want used stuff for them Id rather buy new. My neighbour happily takes my daughters hand me downs because she knows how spotless I keep them and she said she would sort them all out and return them (im having another girl) and I had to find a nice way of saying I don't want them back.

I agree with this. I'm having a girl and my SIL had a girl previously so keeps offering hand me downs and I know she means well but it kind of makes me upset as me and my partner want to enjoy picking things out and looking at things, it's exciting and all part of the fun! We did take her pram and a little bouncer, neither of which was rarely used but she's given us loads of clothes which I've just put in my attic and will give back eventually and just say nothing...we have bought everything else.
