FaceTime preventing stranger anxiety??

So my family lives in another state and I'm expecting my first, I was wondering if anyone has FaceTimed with family/friends with their children and had this prevent stranger anxiety? My niece flips out when she sees me because I only get to see her like three times a year and she's not comfortable with me (she's 2) but I don't want my son to be like that with my mom when we visit. Any suggestions??

We live four hours from my parents. We FaceTime daily! My mom even bought my son a book (one for us and one for them) that she reads him before he goes to bed. He is 18 months and know my parents very well. He even will pick up my phone and tell me "Mimi please" when he wants to call them.

My sister in law and her family live out of state and we FaceTime them every week for a while. My son knows his cousins and will ask for them. It helps him be really excited when he gets to play with them in person.

I think it helps develop relationships, and I am so thankful for it!

We FaceTime my mom probably every other day just because we want our son to know who she is and build a relationship with her. We see her at most twice a year and FaceTime has made her feel a lot more involved. He'll also ask for her now which is the sweetest!
